INTEGRITY - RESPECT - ENDEAVOUR - COMPASSION - COURAGE
The children have been busy learning about a Chinese New Year. We shared the story ‘The Great Race’, learning all about the Chinese Zodiac and discovering which animals we were. We also talked about the current year and learned that it is the Year of the Horse. We are currently enjoying the story ‘The Magic Paintbrush’, which has inspired discussions about kindness, fairness and helping others. We also carefully looked at several Chinese decorations that Miss Diack brought in such as dragon and lion puppets.
The children have been very busy with a variety of creative activities to celebrate Chinese New Year. They have made colourful lanterns, dragon and lion masks, and creating lucky red envelopes with special messages inside. The children have also been making their own rattle drums, exploring rhythm and sound through music and movement. They have also been making lots of noodle boxes and practising using chopsticks in our Chinese restaurant. In maths we have been practising writing Chinese numbers.
