Internet Safety Day 2026 - Smart Tech, safe choices – Exploring the safe and responsible use of AI.

We celebrated Internet Safety Day 2026 with an assembly on Wednesday 11th February. The Digital leaders did a fantastic job hosting the assembly by exploring this year’s theme Smart Tech, safe choices – Exploring the safe and responsible use of AI. Some of the messages included AI can produce deepfakes and inaccurate information and humans can rely too much on it. In addition, the Digital leaders emphasised our brains our an amazing tool and we can solve problems and create many things using it. The whole school made the pledge of ‘I choose to use AI safely, responsibly and kindly.’
The Internet Safety School Competition has commenced where Year 1 and 2 have to show their creativity by designing their own unique alien and Year 2,3,4,5,6 have to design a safety poster about AI and using it safely. Thank you digital leaders for an informative and interesting assembly which has given us important tips for keeping safe online when using AI. Well done, Team Onchan!
