Onchan School is celebrating its 150th Anniversary! Over the last term the children have been doing lots of learning about what life was like 150 years ago and what school might be like in the future. During this week we have created a 'pebble path' in our outdoor area, planted some bulbs, created some special learning to go inside a time capsule and created some superb artwork to celebrate 150 years of our school. Today our celebrations continued with the planting of our time capsule, a colouring competition, a special historical school treasure hunt, a visit from Manx Whippy for ice cream and a wonderful whole school tea party!
All the learning that the children have been doing has been exhibited within our main corridor and the school hall, along with photographs, school plans and log books from years gone by. We welcomed guests, visitors, ex staff, pupils and parents into school to explore, see how much school has changed and look at all the wonderful exhibits.
We need to say a massive thank you to everyone who has helped us out in the weeks leading up to our event or during it this week, it really has been truly appreciated. Also a huge thank you to Tesco for donating some of our tea party food. The children and staff have had a wonderful time celebrating this very special anniversary of our school and we look forward to the next 150 years!
