INTEGRITY - RESPECT - ENDEAVOUR - COMPASSION - COURAGE
We had a lovely day at Knockaloe Beg Farm. We began by following a map on the bus, helping Farmer Barney, who has been visiting us in our Geography lessons, find his way back to the farm!
During the morning, we spent time learning about some of the animals that live on the farm and the children picked up some great facts along the way. We met lambs and piglets, with the lambs all named after ice cream - Biscoff was a firm favourite for the Panda Class! The children helped Farmer John collect freshly laid eggs and counted a total of 59. We then enjoyed a trailer ride up to see the pigs and had the chance to feed them! On the way back, we walked through the vegetable garden and fed some Manx sheep. In the afternoon, we put our science learning into action by observing and investigating the different mammals living there. We looked closely at their features and talked about what makes each animal unique. We then applied our geography skills by designing our own maps of the farm, using our 'observe' thinking move to help us notice key details and represent them clearly on our maps. It was such a fabulous trip and the smiles say it all!
