INTEGRITY - RESPECT - ENDEAVOUR - COMPASSION - COURAGE
To celebrate World Maths Day, pupils worked collaboratively in teams to plan an Easter party. This engaging activity required them to organise a full event, including scheduling the day, selecting games, and managing a set budget.
Throughout the task, pupils applied a wide range of mathematical skills, including addition and subtraction, calculating perimeter, using times tables, and recognising shapes. In addition, they developed important oracy skills by discussing ideas, formulating plans, debating options, making connections, and applying their knowledge to reach agreed decisions as a group.
Once their plans were complete, each team presented their ideas to the rest of the class. They aimed to confidently explain and justify their choices, persuading others to select their party plan as the best.
This activity provided a valuable opportunity for pupils to combine mathematical understanding with teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills in a meaningful and enjoyable context
