The children have been exploring AB patterns using a variety of resources. They began by creating repeating patterns with cubes, counting bears, and natural materials such as conkers and shells. The children enjoyed noticing and predicting what would come next in each pattern.
We then extended this learning by making our own fruit kebab patterns, carefully selecting fruits to continue the sequence correctly. The children were encouraged to check and explain their patterns, showing great focus and understanding of repetition and order. This activity supported mathematical thinking as well as fine motor skills, and language development through discussion and reasoning.
