INTEGRITY - RESPECT - ENDEAVOUR - COMPASSION - COURAGE
Reception have had so much fun over the last couple of weeks celebrating Bonfire Night and Diwali. We started off by making our own fireworks using chalk. We talked about the sounds fireworks make - pop, bang, whizz and crackle - the children enjoyed trying to recreate these through movement and mark making. The children explored colour and texture by pouring coloured rice, making swirling Rangoli patterns, and designed beautiful mandalas using loose parts. They also enjoyed using piping bags filled with paint to create their own Mendhi-inspired designs, carefully squeezing and swirling patterns. We also explored the story of Rama and Sita using puppets. We have loved seeing them grow as they learned about the meaning behind these festivals and how families celebrate them.
