The Colour Monster - Reception

Reception have been busy exploring emotions through the story The Colour Monster. We looked at each of the colours in the book and the feelings they represent, and began linking these to the Zones of Regulation to help us talk about our own emotions. The children enjoyed lots of hands-on activities to support their learning. One favourite was sorting different objects into coloured pots, helping us to match colours with feelings. Another highlight was experimenting with the three primary colours – red, blue and yellow – to see what happens when we mix them together. The children were fascinated to discover the new colours they could create! It has been a wonderful week of learning, creativity, and exploring feelings in Reception.
