ONCHAN SCHOOL

INTEGRITY - RESPECT - ENDEAVOUR - COMPASSION - COURAGE

We were lucky enough to be visited by Manx Blind Welfare for our Monday morning assembly today. They brought with them 'Zesty' the guide dog and talked to the children about what being blind means and the types of equipment a blind or partially sighted person might use to help them with their day to day life. We learnt that there are just 5 guide dogs on the island currently and that not every blind person has a guide dog to help them. Some of our children even got to experience what it is like to be partially sighted or blind by wearing some special glasses!
