INTEGRITY - RESPECT - ENDEAVOUR - COMPASSION - COURAGE
Frogspawn and caterpillars arrived in class today, and the children were very excited to begin observing them. We spent time exploring them and talking about what we could see. The children made careful observations about the tiny black dots inside the frogspawn and noticed how small the caterpillars are during this early stage of their life cycle.
This is a wonderful opportunity for the class to learn about life cycles and how living things grow and change over time. The children shared their ideas about what might happen next and asked lots of thoughtful questions about how frogs and butterflies develop. We will continue to check on them each day, watching closely as they grow and change. The children will record their observations, compare what they notice over time, and learn how to care for living things. We are looking forward to seeing the frogspawn develop into tadpoles and the caterpillars grow before forming their chrysalises.
