Focus: Slowly, Slowly, Slowly, said the Sloth
This week some of our activities will be planned around this story written by Eric Carle. Make sure you have a look at all of the different animals in the story! You can find the story read aloud by clicking on the link below:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gDsYTyUBfAY
What can you remember form the story? What was your favourite part? What was your favourite animal?
Writing
We would like you to create your own book that has lots of pictures of the different animals shown in the story. You might like to watch the story again and look closely at the different animals on each page. It would be great if you could draw a picture and write the name of each animal. Remember that a book will need a front cover, the name of the Author (you!) and a back cover. You can create a book by folding a few pieces of A4 paper in half.
The video below has some factual information about Sloths. Before watching, do you know anything about Sloths? Have a watch and find out some new information:

Now you've watched the video, we would like you to draw or paint a picture of a Sloth. We would then like you to write two new things that you've learnt about Sloths.

This week I've recorded myself saying some words with the 'ow' and 'oi' digraphs in. For this activity, you will need a piece of paper and a pen, when I say the word, I would like you to have a go at writing these down.

Adding and Subtracting activities
Topic
This week part of your topic learning is linked to your writing activity - to watch the video and find out some new information about Sloths and then have a go at drawing/painting a Sloth and writing two new things you've learnt about them.
As an additional topic activity, we would like you to find out about another animal of your choice, that we met in the story! Maybe you could then share some of this new information with us!
Creative
Step-by-step Sloth Craft. You will need to carefully follow the instructions to make your own sloth. Remember that we start on instruction 1, then 2, 3 and 4. Look carefully at the different shapes you will need to draw and then cut out. you will then need to stick these shapes together to create your sloth. Use the document below to help you with this.
Another creative challenge is to make your own 'Hand Print Sloth', have a look at the picture below to help you with this.
