What a wonderful morning we had at Summerhill Glen learning about the habitats and how animals and plants adapt to their surroundings! Dawn from the Manx Wildlife Trust was so informative and the children were so enthusiastic and keen to participate in all the activities that she had planned. They learnt about the difference between freshwater and sea water, how animals and plants adapt to their environment, how to 'stream dip' effectively, how to make ballerinas from fushia flowers and the life cycle of some creatures. The children also took part in a 'bug hunt' and enjoyed classifying what they had found. We also turned into eco-warriors as unfortunately we found that something had polluted the stream and lots of the little creatures and fish had died, so a phone call had to be made to the Department for Environment, Food and Agriculture.
